Software built for how your business actually works

Off-the-shelf software covers common needs, but every business eventually hits its limits. The CRM doesn’t match your sales process. Staff copy data between three systems. Customers expect to book, order and track online, from their phones, in Arabic and English. Processes that give you an edge can’t be captured in a generic tool. That’s when custom software, a mobile app or a better website becomes an investment rather than an expense.

Cairo has many software companies, and choosing one can be difficult. Some only design, some only code, and some disappear after launch. Projects run late when requirements are vague, budgets grow when scope keeps changing, and apps that looked good in demos fail when real users arrive.

ITZone is a software development company in Cairo that takes responsibility for the whole journey. We start by understanding the business problem, design the user experience, build with proven technologies, test properly, launch carefully and support the product afterwards. Because we also run hosting, security and IT infrastructure, your application is built to be secure, fast and maintainable from day one.

What is the software development life cycle?

The software development life cycle (SDLC) is the structured process used to plan, build, test, deliver and maintain software. It turns an idea into working, reliable software in clear stages, so everyone knows what happens when, and quality is built in rather than checked at the end. While methods differ, most SDLC models include these phases:

PhaseWhat happens
1. Discovery and planningUnderstand goals, users, scope, risks and success measures
2. RequirementsDefine what the software must do, with user stories and acceptance criteria
3. DesignUX research, wireframes, UI design and technical architecture
4. DevelopmentBuild features in iterations, with code reviews
5. TestingFunctional, performance, security and user acceptance testing
6. DeploymentRelease to production with monitoring and rollback plans
7. MaintenanceSupport, fixes, updates and new features

Common SDLC models include Waterfall, where each phase completes before the next, and Agile, where work is delivered in short iterations called sprints with regular feedback. We mostly use an Agile approach with clear upfront discovery, so you see progress every two weeks while scope and budget planning stay under control.

Not sure what to build first?

What to look for in a software development partner

Ask to see similar projects and speak to their clients. Check who will actually work on your project and whether they’re in-house or outsourced. Ask how they handle discovery, requirements and changes to scope. Make sure they test properly and explain their approach to security. Confirm who owns the source code and intellectual property, how knowledge is handed over, and what support looks like after launch. A good partner will challenge your assumptions and tell you what not to build as well as what to build.

Should you build custom software or buy off the shelf?

Not every problem needs custom software. If a reliable product already does what you need, buying is usually faster and simpler. Custom development makes sense when your process is a competitive advantage, when off-the-shelf tools would need heavy workarounds, when several systems need connecting into one experience, or when you’re building a product to sell. Often the best answer is a mix: use proven platforms such as ERP, CRM or e-commerce systems for standard functions, and build custom components only where they add real value. We’ll help you decide honestly during discovery.

Security and quality from the start

We follow secure coding practices aligned with OWASP guidance, review code before it’s merged, scan dependencies for known vulnerabilities, protect secrets and credentials, and test authentication and permissions carefully. Applications are deployed to hardened hosting with monitoring and backups. For sensitive applications, independent penetration testing is part of the launch plan. See VAPT
