The cloud is secure. Your configuration might not be.
Microsoft, Amazon and Google invest enormous amounts in securing their facilities and platforms. But they don’t control how your business sets up its accounts, permissions and data. Most cloud breaches don’t come from the provider being hacked; they come from customer-side mistakes: accounts without multi-factor authentication, administrators with too much access, files shared publicly, storage left open to the internet, and nobody watching sign-in logs.
This is called the shared responsibility model. The provider secures the cloud itself; you are responsible for security in the cloud: identities, access, data, configuration and how your apps are used.
ITZone’s cloud security services close that gap. We review your Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS and SaaS environments, fix risky settings, protect identities with MFA and conditional access, secure data sharing, and monitor for suspicious activity. We document everything so you know exactly how your cloud is protected and who is responsible for what.

What is cloud security?
Cloud security is the set of policies, controls and technologies that protect data, applications and infrastructure hosted in cloud services. It covers software-as-a-service apps such as Microsoft 365 and Salesforce, platform and infrastructure services such as Azure and AWS, and the identities that access them. Good cloud security focuses on five areas: identity and access, configuration, data protection, monitoring, and resilience through backup and recovery.
The shared responsibility model
| Responsibility | Cloud provider | Your business |
|---|---|---|
| Physical facilities and hardware | ✓ | |
| Core platform security | ✓ | |
| User accounts and MFA | ✓ | |
| Access permissions and admin roles | ✓ | |
| Data classification and sharing | ✓ | |
| Configuration of services | ✓ | |
| Monitoring your tenant’s activity | Shared | ✓ |
| Backup of your data | Varies | ✓ (recommended) |
Microsoft 365 security essentials
Microsoft 365 is the core of most Egyptian offices, and its security depends heavily on configuration and licensing. We enable MFA for every user and block legacy authentication; set conditional access policies, for example requiring compliant devices or blocking risky locations; reduce global administrators to a minimum and use separate admin accounts; restrict external sharing; enable audit logging and alerts; configure Defender for Office 365 against phishing; and protect devices with Intune and Defender for Endpoint. Many of these features are already included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium licences but are never switched on.
Azure and AWS security
For businesses running servers and applications in Azure or AWS, we review and secure network rules, public endpoints, storage access, identity and role assignments, encryption, logging and security posture tools such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud or AWS Security Hub. We fix high-risk findings, set guardrails so new resources are created securely, and monitor for drift.

Common cloud security mistakes
No MFA, or MFA only for some users. Too many global admins. Legacy protocols still enabled. External sharing wide open. Audit logs not enabled or retained. No backup of Microsoft 365 data. Storage buckets or blobs exposed publicly. Test resources left running with weak settings. Each is easy to fix once identified.
Cloud security and compliance
Frameworks such as ISO 27001, the Egyptian IA Standards and data protection laws expect access control, logging, data protection and supplier oversight in the cloud. If you have data residency requirements, Microsoft and AWS both offer Egyptian cloud regions; we help you configure services to keep data in the right location. See Egypt Data Residency Hosting
Why identity protection comes first
In the cloud, there is no office firewall between attackers and your data; anyone with a valid username and password can try to sign in from anywhere. That makes identity the most important control. Phishing, password spraying and MFA fatigue attacks all target accounts. We enforce phishing-resistant MFA where possible, block sign-ins from risky locations and unmanaged devices, require re-authentication for sensitive actions, use separate admin accounts with just-in-time elevation, and review guest and service accounts regularly. Most cloud breaches we see would have been stopped by these steps.
SaaS app sprawl
Beyond Microsoft 365, most companies use dozens of cloud apps: CRM, HR, design, file sharing, project management. Many are signed up for by individual teams and connected to company data without IT knowing. We help you discover which apps are in use, connect important ones to single sign-on so access is controlled centrally, review permissions granted to third-party apps, and remove risky or unused connections.
Who needs cloud security services
Any business running on Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Azure or AWS, especially those with remote staff, sensitive data, regulated obligations, or a recent move to the cloud where security settings were never reviewed.
Reporting and continuous improvement
Cloud platforms change constantly: Microsoft and AWS release new features and security settings every month, and your own use of the cloud grows. Each quarter we review your posture, track Secure Score and benchmark results, report on risky sign-ins and configuration changes, and recommend the next improvements, so cloud security keeps pace instead of falling behind.
Choosing cloud security companies
Look for a provider with hands-on experience in your platforms, clear methods for assessing and fixing configuration, monitoring capability rather than one-off reviews, and the ability to explain changes in plain language to your users and management.
Case study
A company on Microsoft 365 had a low Secure Score, too many global admins and no conditional access. After our project, Secure Score rose, admin accounts were reduced to the minimum, and risky sign-ins are blocked automatically.
Cloud Security questions, answered
What is cloud security?
The policies, controls and technologies that protect data, applications and identities in cloud services such as Microsoft 365, Azure and AWS.
Isn't Microsoft responsible for securing Microsoft 365?
Microsoft secures the platform; you’re responsible for accounts, access, configuration and data. That’s the shared responsibility model.
What is Microsoft Secure Score?
A measurement of your Microsoft 365 security posture with recommended improvements. We use it alongside other benchmarks.
Do we need to back up Microsoft 365?
It’s strongly recommended. Built-in retention isn’t the same as a backup, especially for ransomware or accidental deletion.
Can you secure Google Workspace too?
Yes, with equivalent identity, sharing and monitoring controls.
Will changes disrupt our users?
We plan changes carefully, communicate in advance and roll out in stages.
How long does a cloud security assessment take?
Usually one to two weeks, depending on the size of your environment.
Do you monitor our cloud 24/7?
Yes, through our Managed SOC, covering sign-ins, configuration changes and suspicious activity.
Can you help after a Microsoft 365 account is compromised?
Yes. We contain the incident, investigate and harden the tenant. See Incident Response
Do you need global admin access?
We use the least privilege needed and, where possible, delegated or time-limited admin access that you can revoke.
Is our data stored in Egypt?
It depends on the services and regions you use. We can review where your data is stored and help configure UAE regions where available.
Can you secure Microsoft Teams and guest access?
Yes. We set policies for guest access, external chat, meeting recordings and file sharing in Teams.
