Trading & Manufacturing

ERP and IT solutions for trading and manufacturing companies in Egypt

Control stock, costs, production and cash flow in one system: trading and distribution ERP, manufacturing ERP with MRP, warehouse management and the infrastructure to run it reliably.

Margins depend on control

Trading and manufacturing are the backbone of Egypt’s non-oil economy. Traders import, store and re-export goods across the region, often dealing in multiple currencies, free zone and mainland entities, and complex landed costs. Distributors manage large catalogues, credit customers and route sales teams. Manufacturers plan production, buy raw materials, manage work orders and quality, and cost every product accurately.

In all three, profit depends on control: knowing exactly what stock you have and what it really cost, which customers owe what, which products make money, and what you need to buy or make next. Spreadsheets and basic accounting software can’t provide that control as businesses grow. The result is excess stock, stock-outs, unclear margins, slow month-end closes and decisions made on instinct.

ITZone implements ERP and IT solutions for trading, distribution and manufacturing companies: inventory and warehouse management, purchasing with landed costs, sales and credit control, manufacturing with bills of materials and MRP, quality tracking, multi-company and multi-currency finance, and integrations with e-commerce, logistics and e-invoicing. What is manufacturing ERP?

A manufacturing ERP is an enterprise resource planning system with modules designed for production. Beyond finance, purchasing, inventory and sales, it manages bills of materials (the components and quantities needed for each product), routings and work centres, work orders, material requirements planning (MRP), production scheduling, quality control, maintenance and product costing. By connecting production with purchasing, inventory and finance, it lets manufacturers plan accurately, reduce waste and know the true cost of every product.

What is MRP (material requirements planning)?

MRP is a planning method, usually built into ERP systems, that calculates which materials and components are needed, in what quantities and when, to meet production plans and customer orders. It uses demand (sales orders and forecasts), bills of materials, current stock and lead times to generate purchase and production suggestions. MRP prevents both shortages that stop production and excess stock that ties up cash. MRP II extends the concept to include capacity planning and other resources.

ERP for trading companies in Egypt

Trading and distribution businesses need ERP features such as multi-warehouse inventory with batch, serial and expiry tracking; landed costs that add freight, insurance, customs duties and clearing charges to product cost; multi-currency purchasing and sales; price lists by customer and region; credit limits and collections; re-export and free zone documentation; sales team apps; and B2B ordering portals. Distribution ERP adds route planning, van sales and high-volume order processing. We configure these on platforms such as Odoo, Dynamics 365 Business Central and SAP Business One. See ERP Consulting

Traceability from supplier to customer

Food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, electronics and building materials often require full traceability: which supplier batch went into which product, and which customer received it. Manufacturing and distribution ERP tracks lots and serial numbers through receiving, production and shipping, records quality checks, manages expiry dates with first-expiry-first-out picking, and supports recalls. These capabilities also help meet authority and customer requirements.

Shop floor technology

Production areas benefit from simple, robust technology: tablets or terminals at work centres to start and finish work orders, barcode scanning for materials, quality checklists, and dashboards showing output and downtime. Where useful, machine data and sensors can feed production systems to track utilisation and maintenance needs, a practical step toward Industry 4.0. We design shop floor networks and devices for dusty, noisy environments. See Industries hub for Industry 4.0

Sales teams and B2B customers

Trading and distribution businesses often rely on field sales teams and repeat B2B customers. Mobile sales apps let reps check stock, prices and customer balances, take orders and capture payments on the road. B2B portals let customers reorder, track orders and download invoices themselves, reducing calls and errors. See CRM Software · E-commerce

Who we support

General trading companies, importers and re-exporters, FMCG and food distributors, building materials suppliers, electronics and spare parts traders, light manufacturers and assemblers, food production, packaging and printing companies, and free zone trading businesses.

Infrastructure for warehouses and factories

Warehouses and factories need robust networks, Wi-Fi for scanners across racking and production areas, CCTV, UPS protection for servers and network equipment, and reliable internet with backup. We design and support infrastructure suited to industrial environments, so systems keep running during long shifts. See IT Infrastructure

Knowing what every product really costs

Accurate costing is the foundation of good pricing and margin decisions. For traders, that means adding every cost of getting goods into the warehouse, freight, insurance, customs duties, clearing and handling, to the product’s cost through landed cost allocation. For manufacturers, it means combining material costs from bills of materials, labour and machine time from work orders, and overheads. Inventory valuation methods such as average cost or FIFO then flow these costs into the balance sheet and cost of goods sold automatically. With accurate costs, management can price confidently and see true margins by product, customer and channel.

Choosing an ERP partner for trading and manufacturing

Ask partners about their experience with landed costs, multi-currency, multi-company setups, MRP and warehouse scanning. Request examples of similar implementations and speak to references. Check how they approach data migration of items, stock and open orders, and how they’ll support you after go-live, including during year-end stock counts.

Reporting and decision-making

With all operations in one ERP, management dashboards show sales and margin by product, customer, region and salesperson; stock ageing and slow movers; purchase commitments; production output and efficiency; receivables ageing; and cash flow forecasts. Decisions about pricing, purchasing and production can then be based on real data rather than estimates.

Case study

A 10th of Ramadan City trading company with mainland and free zone entities moved to one ERP with landed costs, multi-currency and inter-company transactions. Month-end close got faster and margins by product line became visible for the first time.
