Someone watching, every minute of every day
Most security tools generate alerts. Firewalls log blocked connections, endpoint software flags suspicious files, Microsoft 365 warns about unusual sign-ins. The problem is that alerts are only useful if someone looks at them, understands what they mean and acts quickly. In most companies, nobody does, especially at night, at weekends or during holidays, which is exactly when attackers prefer to strike.
A Security Operations Centre (SOC) solves this. It’s a team of security analysts, supported by monitoring technology, who watch your systems continuously, investigate suspicious activity, and respond to real threats. Large enterprises build their own SOCs. For most businesses, that means hiring a team big enough to cover 24/7 shifts, buying expensive tools and keeping skills current, which simply isn’t practical.
ITZone provides SOC as a service. We connect your firewalls, endpoints, servers, Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms to our monitoring, and our analysts watch them around the clock. When something suspicious happens, we investigate, contain the threat where we’re authorised to, and tell you exactly what happened and what to do next. This is often called managed detection and response (MDR).

What you get
24/7 monitoring
Logs and alerts from firewalls, endpoints, servers, identity systems and cloud services collected and analysed around the clock.
Threat detection
Detection rules and behaviour analytics that spot attacks such as suspicious logins, malware, lateral movement and data exfiltration.
Investigation
Analysts review every significant alert, filter out false positives and confirm real threats.
Response
Containment actions, such as isolating an infected laptop, disabling a compromised account or blocking a malicious IP, within agreed limits.
Threat hunting
Proactive searches for signs of attackers who may have slipped past automated defences.
Clear communication
Alerts in plain English with severity, impact and recommended actions.
Monthly reports
Incidents, trends, top risks and recommendations, suitable for management and auditors.
What does SOC mean?
SOC stands for Security Operations Centre (or Center). It is a team, with the processes and technology they use, responsible for monitoring an organisation’s security, detecting threats and responding to incidents. A SOC typically has analysts at different levels: Level 1 analysts triage alerts, Level 2 analysts investigate and respond, and senior analysts or threat hunters handle complex incidents and look for hidden threats.
Note that “SOC” also refers to SOC 2, an audit report about a service provider’s controls. That’s a different meaning; this page is about security operations.
What is MDR (managed detection and response)?
Managed detection and response (MDR) is a service where a provider monitors your environment, detects threats and actively responds to them on your behalf. Traditional monitoring services often stop at sending you an alert. MDR goes further: analysts investigate, contain and help remediate. MDR is usually built around endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, extended with data from firewalls, identity and cloud services. When it covers many data sources, it’s sometimes called XDR (extended detection and response).
SOC as a service vs in-house SOC
| In-house SOC | SOC as a service (ITZone) | |
|---|---|---|
| 24/7 staffing | Several analysts on shifts | Included |
| Tools (SIEM, SOAR, threat intel) | Buy, integrate, maintain | Included |
| Time to start | Many months | Weeks |
| Expertise | Hard to hire and retain | Experienced team |
| Scale | Fixed | Grows with you |
| Best for | Very large or highly regulated organisations | Most SMEs and mid-size companies |
What we monitor
| Source | Examples of what we detect |
|---|---|
| Endpoints (EDR) | Malware, ransomware behaviour, suspicious scripts |
| Microsoft 365 / Entra ID | Impossible-travel logins, MFA fatigue, mailbox rule abuse |
| Firewalls and VPN | Brute-force attempts, known malicious IPs, unusual outbound traffic |
| Servers | Privilege escalation, new admin accounts, log tampering |
| Cloud (Azure, AWS) | Risky configuration changes, unusual API activity |
| Email security | Phishing campaigns, compromised accounts sending spam |
How we work
-
Scoping
We agree which systems to monitor and what actions we’re authorised to take.
-
Onboarding
Log sources and agents connected; baseline of normal activity established.
-
Tuning
Detection rules adjusted to your environment to cut noise.
-
24/7 operations
Monitoring, investigation and response begin.
-
Review
Monthly reports and quarterly service reviews.

Response priorities
| Severity | Example |
|---|---|
| Critical | Active ransomware, confirmed account takeover |
| High | Malware detected, suspicious admin activity |
| Medium | Policy violation, unusual login |
| Low | Informational findings |
What happens when we detect a threat
Imagine a staff member’s Microsoft 365 account signs in from an unusual country at 2 am, then creates a rule forwarding emails externally. Our monitoring raises an alert within minutes. An analyst checks the sign-in details, device and recent activity, and confirms it’s an account takeover. Within agreed limits, we disable the session, reset the password and remove the forwarding rule. We then check whether data was accessed or phishing emails were sent, notify your contact with a clear summary, and recommend next steps such as enforcing stronger MFA. The whole process is recorded for your report and any compliance needs.
Cutting the noise
A common problem with security monitoring is alert fatigue: thousands of alerts, mostly harmless. During onboarding we learn what’s normal for your business, tune detection rules, and suppress known-safe activity. Our analysts filter the remaining alerts so you only hear about what matters. Over time, false positives fall and real threats stand out.
Threat intelligence
Our detection is enriched with threat intelligence: known malicious IP addresses, domains, file hashes and attacker techniques. This helps us recognise attacks early, including campaigns targeting the Middle East and specific industries. Detection rules are mapped to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, a widely used catalogue of attacker techniques, so coverage gaps are visible.
Who needs a SOC in Egypt
Companies handling sensitive customer or financial data, healthcare providers, logistics and supply-chain businesses, professional firms, e-commerce companies, suppliers to government entities, and any business whose insurer, auditor or clients expect continuous monitoring.
SOC and compliance
Continuous monitoring and incident logging are requirements or strong expectations in many frameworks, including ISO 27001, the Egyptian IA Standards, ADHICS and cyber insurance policies. Our monthly reports, incident records and log retention give you evidence for auditors and insurers that security events are monitored, investigated and acted on.
Case study
A professional services firm in Smart Village connected Microsoft 365, endpoints and firewalls to our SOC. Within the first month we detected and contained a compromised account being used for internal phishing.
Managed SOC questions, answered
What does SOC mean?
SOC stands for Security Operations Centre: the team, processes and technology that monitor security, detect threats and respond to incidents.
What is a SOC as a service?
A managed service where an external provider runs the SOC for you, monitoring and responding 24/7.
What is MDR?
Managed detection and response: a service that monitors, detects and actively responds to threats, not just alerts you.
Do you use a SIEM?
Yes. Logs are collected and analysed in a SIEM platform, combined with endpoint and cloud security tools.
Will you take action without asking us?
Only within limits you approve in advance, such as isolating an infected laptop. Bigger actions are agreed with you.
Do you need to install anything?
Usually a lightweight agent on endpoints and connectors for cloud services and firewalls.
Where is our data stored?
We’ll tell you exactly where logs are stored and for how long; Egypt-hosted options can be discussed.
Can you work with our existing security tools?
Yes. We integrate with leading firewall, endpoint and cloud security tools.
How long does onboarding take?
Typically two to four weeks, including tuning.
What do you need from us?
A named contact for urgent escalations, admin access to set up connectors, and agreement on which actions we can take automatically.
Do you cover the whole Egypt?
Yes. Monitoring is remote, so we protect businesses across Egypt, with on-site incident support when needed.
Can we see the alerts ourselves?
Yes. You get access to reports and, where the platform allows, a dashboard view of incidents.
