About AWS
What is AWS?
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is Amazon’s cloud computing platform and one of the largest cloud providers in the world. Launched in 2006, it offers a very wide range of on-demand services, including computing (Amazon EC2), storage (Amazon S3), databases (Amazon RDS, DynamoDB), networking, content delivery (CloudFront), serverless computing (AWS Lambda), containers, analytics, machine learning and security tools. Organisations use AWS to host websites and applications, run databases and ERP, build new digital products, store and analyse data, and set up disaster recovery, paying for what they use.
AWS in Egypt
AWS operates an infrastructure region in Egypt, the AWS Middle East (UAE) Region, made up of multiple availability zones, which are separate groups of facilities designed so a failure in one doesn’t affect the others. Hosting in the Egyptian region gives lower latency for users in Egypt and GCC and helps organisations meet data residency requirements. AWS also has a region in Bahrain and many regions worldwide, so workloads can be placed where they fit best. Not every AWS service is available in every region, so we check service availability during design. See Egypt Data Residency

Building on AWS the right way
AWS publishes the Well-Architected Framework, a set of best practices organised into six pillars: operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimisation and sustainability. We use it to design new environments and to review existing ones, identifying risks such as single points of failure, overly broad permissions, missing backups or inefficient resources, and then fixing them in priority order.
Is AWS right for you?
Good fit if…
- You run Linux, open-source or cloud-native applications
- You need a very wide range of services and global reach
- You’re building digital products, APIs or data platforms
- You want the AWS Egyptian region for residency and latency
Consider alternatives if…
- Your estate is heavily Microsoft-based and you want tight Microsoft integration
- You want a simple website host without cloud complexity
- Your workloads need single-tenant hardware (consider dedicated or private cloud)

AWS migration
We migrate on-premise servers, other cloud workloads and hosting accounts to AWS using AWS migration tools and our structured process: discovery, assessment, landing zone, pilot, waves, cut-over and optimisation. Databases can be moved with replication to minimise downtime. See Cloud Migration
Securing your AWS environment
Most AWS security incidents come from configuration, not from AWS itself. We secure the root account with MFA and lock it away, use AWS Organizations with separate accounts for production, development and security, give users and applications only the permissions they need through IAM roles, block public access to S3 buckets by default, encrypt data at rest and in transit with KMS, enable CloudTrail logging across all accounts, and use GuardDuty and Security Hub to detect threats and misconfigurations. Our SOC can monitor these signals 24/7. See Managed SOC
Keeping AWS usage efficient
AWS makes it easy to start resources and easy to forget them. We tag resources by owner and project, set budgets and alerts, right-size instances based on real usage, schedule non-production environments to switch off out of hours, choose appropriate storage classes, and review commitments for steady workloads. Regular reviews keep the environment lean as it grows. See Cloud Cost Optimization
AWS for different workloads
Websites and e-commerce
EC2 or containers behind load balancers with CloudFront.
Business applications and ERP
EC2 with managed RDS databases and backups.
APIs and mobile back-ends
Serverless with Lambda and API Gateway, or containers.
Data and analytics
S3-based data lakes with analytics services.
Disaster recovery
Replication from on-premise servers into AWS for failover.

Who uses AWS with us
Startups and SaaS companies building products, e-commerce businesses needing scalability, organisations migrating Linux and open-source workloads, companies needing the Egyptian region for data residency, and enterprises adding AWS alongside other clouds.
Designing for reliability on AWS
AWS availability zones make it possible to run applications across physically separate facilities within a region. We design critical workloads to use multiple zones: load-balanced web servers, databases with standby replicas, and storage that’s replicated automatically. For disaster recovery, backups and replicas can be copied to another region. We define recovery objectives with you and test failover, so resilience is proven rather than assumed.
AWS managed services in practice
Once your environment is live, our managed service covers 24/7 monitoring with CloudWatch and our own tools, operating system patching through Systems Manager, backup verification, security alert handling, cost and performance reviews, change management and monthly reporting. Your developers keep the freedom to build, while we keep the platform healthy and secure.
Choosing an AWS consulting partner in Egypt
Ask about the partner’s AWS certifications and project experience, how they design landing zones and security, whether they use the Well-Architected Framework, how they handle migrations and rollback, and what managed support they provide afterwards. Make sure your AWS accounts remain in your company’s name with full access.
What you get at handover
Documented architecture diagrams, account structure, security baselines, backup and DR configuration, monitoring and alerting, cost tagging and budget alerts, and access in your company’s name.
Modern application options on AWS
For new applications, AWS offers alternatives to managing servers. Serverless services such as AWS Lambda run code only when needed and scale automatically, ideal for APIs, scheduled tasks and event-driven processes. Containers, managed through Amazon ECS or EKS, package applications consistently from development to production. We help development teams choose the right model and set up deployment pipelines, monitoring and security for it.

Case study
An Egyptian e-commerce platform moved from a single overloaded server to AWS with auto scaling, managed databases and CloudFront. The site now handles peak sale traffic without slowdown.
AWS questions, answered
What is AWS?
Amazon Web Services, Amazon’s cloud platform offering on-demand computing, storage, databases, networking and many other services.
Does AWS have a region in Egypt?
Yes, AWS operates the Middle East (UAE) Region with multiple availability zones.
What are AWS managed services?
Ongoing management of your AWS environment: monitoring, patching, backups, security, optimisation and support.
Should we choose AWS or Azure?
It depends on your applications, skills and Microsoft investments. We compare both for your workloads.
Can you take over an AWS account set up by someone else?
Yes. We review it against best practice, fix risks and then manage it.
Is AWS secure?
AWS secures the infrastructure; your configuration, identities and data are your responsibility. We set these up securely.
Can AWS host our website and our ERP?
Yes, along with databases, applications and backups.
Do you provide 24/7 support for AWS?
Monitoring runs 24/7, with incident response according to your service level.
Can you help us set up AWS from scratch?
Yes, starting with a secure landing zone before any workloads are deployed.
Can we use AWS alongside Azure or Microsoft 365?
Yes. Many businesses use Microsoft 365 for productivity and AWS for applications, with single sign-on across both.
Can you help with AWS certifications for our team?
We provide hands-on handover training and can recommend training paths.
Do we keep ownership of our AWS accounts?
Yes. Accounts are in your company’s name; we use delegated, auditable access.
How long does an AWS migration take?
From a few weeks for a handful of servers to several months for larger estates.
