IT that’s managed, not just fixed

Most small and mid-size businesses in the Egyptian handle IT in one of three ways. Someone in the office “who’s good with computers” looks after it alongside their real job. A technician is called when something breaks. Or one in-house IT person tries to cover everything: users, networks, servers, security, cloud, vendors and projects. All three leave the business exposed. Problems are fixed after they hurt, security is patchy, knowledge sits with one person, and nobody has time to plan.

Managed IT services change the model. Instead of paying for fixes, you partner with a managed service provider (MSP) that takes ongoing responsibility for your IT. Your systems are monitored around the clock, maintained proactively, secured and backed up. Your staff get a helpdesk they can call, message or email. Engineers visit when needed. And you get advice on where your technology should go next.

ITZone is a managed service provider in Cairo supporting businesses across Egypt. We combine helpdesk, remote and onsite support, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, cloud and Microsoft 365 administration, backups and IT strategy into one service, so you have one team, one number and one partner accountable for keeping your business running.

What are managed IT services?

Managed IT services are IT functions delivered by an external provider on an ongoing basis, usually under a monthly agreement with defined services and response times. Rather than reacting to problems, the provider proactively monitors, maintains and secures your technology, supports your users, and helps plan improvements. Managed services can cover your entire IT environment or specific areas, such as helpdesk, network monitoring, cybersecurity or cloud management.

What is an MSP? A managed service provider (MSP) is the company that delivers managed IT services. A good MSP acts like an extension of your business: it knows your systems, people and goals, and takes responsibility for keeping technology reliable and secure. A managed security service provider (MSSP) focuses specifically on cybersecurity. ITZone provides both. See Managed Security

Fully managed or co-managed?

Fully managed IT suits businesses without an internal IT team: we handle everything. Co-managed IT suits businesses with one or more IT staff: we provide helpdesk overflow, specialist skills, 24/7 monitoring, security and project support, while your team keeps control of day-to-day priorities. Both models use the same tools and processes, so you can move between them as you grow.

Why break-fix IT costs more than it seems

With break-fix support, you call someone when something stops working. It feels economical because you only pay when there’s a problem, but the provider has no incentive to prevent problems, and every issue causes downtime before it’s fixed. Knowledge of your systems isn’t kept, so each visit starts from scratch. Security updates, backups and monitoring fall through the cracks. Managed IT reverses the incentive: the provider is responsible for keeping things running, so prevention, documentation and monitoring are built in. Most businesses find they have far fewer disruptions after switching.

Security as part of managed IT

Cyber threats affect businesses of every size, and many attacks succeed because of basic gaps: unpatched systems, missing MFA, weak backups and unmonitored devices. Our managed IT services include a security baseline for every client, covering endpoint protection, patch management, MFA, email security, backups and monitoring, with optional 24/7 SOC for higher-risk environments. Security is part of the service, not an extra project. See Managed Security

Who uses managed IT services

Companies with 10 to 300 staff without a full IT department, businesses with one overloaded IT person, multi-branch companies needing consistent support, professional firms handling confidential data, clinics and schools, logistics and trading companies, and fast-growing businesses whose IT hasn’t kept up.

How to choose a managed IT services provider in Cairo

Ask for written response times by priority and how out-of-hours issues are handled. Check what’s included and excluded, especially projects, hardware and licences. Ask how they monitor, patch and back up, and whether security is built in. Ask to see a sample monthly report. Confirm that documentation and admin credentials belong to you and that there’s a clear exit process. Speak to references from businesses of your size and industry.
